Nokia PC Suite... having problems.

Options
I was wondering whether anyone could help. I and OH cannot get the PC Nokia Suite to do what it's supposed to do. We have tried uninstalling and getting the latest version from the website but still no avail.

It's on the computer ok, but it won't connect with either of our phones, either by bluetooth or by cable. It just keeps coming up with reinstall and 'MMList Empty'.
I have the right cable and have a bluetooth thingy in the back of the computer, which talks to my phone with no probs... (as you can tell I am really technical...)

I am getting sooooo frustrated with it.

Can anyone help ??? PLEASE !

  • I had a problem with this a while back, I didn't get an error message, but could just not see the phone. Nokia were about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Ended up formatting the PC and re-installing, then it worked.

I have had the same problem with my nokia 6630, have given it up as a bad job :(
  • Boo hoo hoo.... I am really gutted as the principle of it is great. I have started to join in the thread on the MMList Empty forum on Nokia to see if anyone can help me.

Formatting the PC Bob ? What do you mean ? You are speaking to a complete amateur here....
I have tried reinstalling the software a squillion times but to no avail....

It's a shame it's not working, and I would have thought with so many people having problems that Nokia would do something !

Try this solution as it may help.

Start/Run and enter the following command and click OK. Then restart your system.

    Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

At your own risk but it was reccomended.

Right I had this problem - it depends on what version of nokia pc suite you have, but this is how I managed to solve it with the bluetooth connection....

Before you start, i would advise that this will mean you will not be able to send files to your pc via bluetooth independantly of Nokia PC suite.

    1) On your pc:
Go into start> control panel > System > Hardware > device manager

    2) Find your bluetooth device on the list of devices and double click on it.

    3) This will bring up another grey box thing.

    4) Click on the "driver" tab

    5) Click on "update driver"

    6) It will then ask you:
"Can windows connect to windows update to search for software?"

Select "no, not this time" and then next.

    7) Then it will say:
"If your hardware came with an installation cd or floppy disk, then insert it now - what do you want windows to do?"

Select - "Install from a list or specific location (advanced)"
    Click next

    8) It will then say: "Please chose your search and installation options"

Select - "Don't search, i will chose the drivers to install" and then click next.

    9) It will bring up a list of two drivers - the one that came with your bluetooth device and one called something like
"Bluetonium BCM2035 Bluetooth 2.4 ghz single chip tranceiver" select that one, it is the windows driver, which is the only one nokia pc suite will recognise, sadly!

10)Click next and it will install this.

11)Now turn bluetooth on on your phone, and make sure that under "my phone's visability" you have selected "shown to all"

12)Now try nokia pc suite again.

  • impy78 - thank you for trying... I tried exactly to the letter what you said, and PC Suite still isn't working. I can now however send music files from my pc to my phone which is a start, but that is independantly of the PC suite.... I had such hopes it was going to work, but still comes up with MMLIst Empty and doesn't recognise any connections..... I'm going to cry !

At this point, I always find flogging the computer with a handy oject such as a towel or large boot helps. (well, it helps that feeling of exaspiration anyway!)

I would try the following forums, they are a bit more clued up on these things:
