Draughty Cat Flap

My brother and I have spent 6 weeks refurbishing (rebuilding) my utility room which was originally the outside loo and coal shed. The original room was cold, didn't have a damp proof, no insulation or plaster on the walls, etc.

We have completely refurbished it, putting in a damp proof, floor, insulation, etc.

We have also replaced the old door which created a lot of drafts.

So, we had a nice cosy room over Christmas. I then needed to reinstate the cat flap in the room so the cats can get in and out easily.

My OH put the cat flap in and now the room is as freezing as before .

Can anyone recommend a cat flap that isn't as draughty?

I got just a basic cat flap as I didn't need to prevent foreign cats getting in. The utility room opens into a lean to area which also has a cat flap (a micro-chip one) so stops other cats getting into this area. This is obviously the problem.

Until I get one I considered using the brush insulation around the door of the flap so am thinking of getting this and fitting it (as you can see daylight around it) but my short-term fix attempts so far with sewing braid, etc have caused the flap to jam.

I have also posted this on the Pets threads to see if anyone over there can help.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Not sure about a draught-less cat flap, but could you rig up a little curtain in front of it? Might not look too naff if you do it neatly, and the cat should still be able to push his/her way through...

We have a basic Staywell flap and have problems when it is windy as although the magnetic strip holds it closed, once the cat goes through the wind stops it closing properly. It's in the wall rather than the door so I have tried various arrangements of baffles outside but have yet to find an answer. I am now thinking of adding some weight to the flap but not too much as we don't want to stop kitty getting in.
