Hi can I appeal to an experienced and patient Bootser to do a step by step guide to the self scan tills at Boots as they scare the hell out of me.
I want to to be able to use them confidently so a sales assistant does not swoop down on me when I am trying to get a really good glitch.
I will most likely be using the ones a Fosse park in leicester does anyone know how strongly they are watched by sales assistants as very near to ordinary tills.Just because your paranoid does not mean they are not out to get you ! :rotfl:0 -

Hi Glasgow bootsers...
Today, Fort had Olay GWP, pantene products (all the range). But, where is all the gift stuff...shelves were empty!!!! Large notice on empty shelves stating 'new stock arriving 18th Jan'????
Jeezo, what's going on here? Rows and rows of empty shelves.

Hi jax do you know if they have ss tills there please?
TIA0 -

Also, there seemed to be a strange atmosphere, almost gloomy.
Massive shop with about 10 peeps in, all tills were empty, staff all looked glum. Even the managers were standing huddled in groups with concerned looks on their faces. Sooo strange!
Don't think am gona like this year ahead at all...shame to see peeps worried about jobs and life.

Yes, they do. 4 or 5 at the front of the shop, just next to the main tills.

Theres honestly nothing to it - I used ss for the first time today - liked it so much I went back another twice with free GWPs! They are very similar to the ss at Tesco/Asda etc. They tell you what to do. I chose a ss as far away as I could from where the SA was standing, but she was lovely anyway, not a pouncing type. For the free GWPs without purchasing anything from the range, I took the GWP plus my herbal essences stuff to the ss, scanned some of the herbal essences first, then my GWP, then the last of my herbal essence. Before you choose your payment option, put your AC card in the holder to the right of the screen. Then choose your payment option, pay, wait for your receipt, and take your bag from the bagging area. If you've paid over £5 you're entitled to a blinkie, which you have to ask the SA for. My SA never even asked to see my receipt, she just gave me the blinkies (twice). The third time I had a different SA, and she did the same thing.

Also thanks balletshoes as that is great to know as I have only used it once and the alarm went off and freaked me out:eek: so I walked away totally:rotfl:
And thanks for the info about the blinkie as I wouldn't have known where to get it from :beer:0 -

HTH,
I NEVER get vouchers from the sa's at the SS till's (Aberdeen) - always get a look like I've got a cheek asking and sent to queue all over again at manned till's and ask them kindly if I can have one from their till and they always check my receipt.0 -
Just an idea for those who can't log into their online accounts - I was having the same problem, so clicked on the Forgotten Password link on the sign-in page. They promptly sent me a new password by email. I then cleared my Cookies, and tried to log-in again using the new password, and voila! First time I've been able to get into my account for days!!
Sorry if that's already a well-known solution, but I haven't read it on here myself yet so may be of help to somebody0 -
Firstly thank you Mrs Bluebear for the stock level explanation... it makes sense now. Although if we all add 99 to our baskets will that mean they go out of stcok before they do really go out of stock cos we are all holding it in reserve?!
Anyways, to Tiggerlilly - I am a fellow Fosse Park shopper - I went there today and managed an Olay GWP without buying any Olay, though I didnt use the self scan today as I had loads of vouchers and like at Tesco thought it better to get the SA to put them through. I have used the SS tills before though and the staff are actually very helpful rather than strongly watching. Not like the Tescos near where I work where they tut at you whenever you set the till off needing help.
I did have to chuckle though when I went to the main tills. First trip I got 4 pantene sachets and some hand cream - 400 points and spent over £5 so got a blinkie. This i wanted for my next trip where I had 3 x No7 make up sponge thingies. the SA as soon as she started putting my things through said "you can't use the voucher with those, you do know that don't you, cos you already have an offer with the 342", to which I replied "well thats a first!", so her and her mate next to her consulted and she then said, "well if you want me to check first..." so she put the items through, it did the 342 and then she scanned the voucher and it took that off too. She was so surprised and later said its a good job i got her to check as she would have just disregarded the voucher before.
Was a bit unsure of letting her check before all items had gone through as I was aiming for a £20 spend for extra points, but it worked out ok in the end. :T
So a good day Bootsing..... been a while since I went armed with a list of glitches and free GWPs to hunt down. Couldnt find any of the other GWPs, but I'm building up my points for a camera or photo printer and I'm not far off now thanks to the help from you guys. Thank to all to find the glitches.0
