Hey all,
I'm normally a lurker on this thread as I've yet to attend a craft event, but was planning on hopefully going to a few on the lead up to xmas.
Now this may have been my imagination but did there used to be a list of all forth coming events on the first page of the thread?!
Was going to have a look this evening but couldnt find it, it may be totally possible that i dreamt it was there!!!
thanks!:j Norn Iron Club Member No. 343 :j0 -
There's a couple of lists a few pages ago - I added all the dates from my diary and Supermum did something similar. Check about 5 or 6 pages ago (sorry, I'm lazy and haven't checked exact pages!) If you see any on my list you fancy pm me for details if you like xLife's a box of beads - rainbow coloured and full of surprises!:D0

I went to the Ballyclare AutumnFest on Fri and Sat and met Belle - turns out she is my sisters friend and I didn't even realise! Small world. The Fri was a complete washout, the weather on Sat was better but as per usual it looked like it was thrown together at the last minute. There was absolutely no atmosphere to speak of. No decor, no music, no lights. It was in the car park at the back of the townhall which was still open for ppl to park in?! It just seemed crazy. Id say I was lucky if I got 10 visitors to my stall. I know the rest of the stallholders didn't do well either. Ah well I suppose you live and learn - I suppose it just all depends on the circumstances - weather, advertising, organizing etc. We should set up our own event - at least we would know what not to do
Yet another badly organised event then - GRR......there seem to be more and more of them as places jump on the craft fair bandwagon without really thinking about the implications.
I agree re setting up our own!! But someone would then be in charge which would be very stressful aswell as running your own stall!
A few pages back I posted a request for anyone interested to forward me details of their crafts and I would include this in a mailer out to local schools - I thought all you mad crafty folk would jump at the chance of sort of becoming a group that could be hired en masse as it were. BUT Only 2 people replied!!
I drafted the letter, put lovely pics etc and posted out to 20 schools and so far have had 2 replies....I just dont understand what is going on this year...maybe schools are fed up of trying to organise it. But surely 10 tables paying £20 each for a 4 hour, well advertised event has to be worth it for the organiser? Surely it isnt too much to ask???? And surely that is better than £45 for 3 hour catastrophe in a car park???!!!
I seriously think it is time to get together, hire a venue every now and then, somewhere different each time so it stays fresh, and see how we get on.....:TFeel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0 -
Hi Supermum
I would be more than willing to help set up an event. I sell handbags (not exactly crafty I know but they are that little bit different). Im working on this business full time so would be prepared to put in a bit of time to organise something. I think at this stage there would certainly be no harm in doing a bit of research, finding out costs, what insurance is needed etc Im not saying I would be brilliant at it but I think if we got a few heads together we could certainly come up with something better than some of the events Ive seen recentlyAny other opinions on this would be most welcome...

Just popping on to say hi after meeting Rach39 at Hillsborough on saturday & her reminding me about this thread. I think it was Supermum who first told me about it back in august at the craft fair in Newcastle.
Supermum I've been in touch with a few primary schools who had held Christmas Fairs last year & a few of them arent holding them this year due tothe transfer tests being held on some of the saturdays in november so I'm not sure if this could be the same reason right across the board. A few have mentioned that they may hold an Easter Fair instead so if I hear anything of that I'll post the details when I get hold of them.
Here is details of one that I have just heard about its a Christmas Craft Fair in The Birches Primary School in Portadown on 20th Nov 6-9pm. As far as I know you just phone the school office to book0 -

RUDOLF STEINER SCHOOL FAIR - STILL LOOKING FOR CRAFTERS!
Just spoke to lovely lady called Lara who is organising this fair (her first time organising it, although we were at the fair last year). There are still a few tables left - its on 5th December 11-4.30 and 6th December 1-4.00. Stall is £50 for the two days with tea coffee biccies thrown in. Phone Lara on 07842908224 asap! Ive done this one before and it wasnt the busiest, with an emphasis on alternative and home/hand made goods, but the atmosphere was AMAZING with singing in the foyer, and a really welcoming homely feel, FANTASTIC things for children to do all day if you wanted to bring them along, Im sure they wouldnt mind!!Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0 -
