BCA Blackbushe - How to get my purchase home?
I'm going to Blackbushe BCA to get a replacement vehicle this Friday. I purchased my current vehicle there nearly 6 years ago and it's been superb! But when I bought it last time I went with a friend in his van. I took a can of petrol (the nearest petrol station is miles away) and basically bought it on Switch and drove home very carefully (no MOT so uninsurable!).
How are you actually meant to get a purchased car home, considering I'm not a dealer so don't have access to a low-loader/"dealer red reg plates"/"dealer-drive-any-car-insurance"?
Wish me luck. It's also my birthday that day so hoping to bag something reasonable (a 4-5yr old TDCi Mondeo or similar, I'm not fussy).
I've been trawling through the sale catalogue and it looks hopeful for something in the 3-4k bracket.

Trying hard to be a good moneysaver.

.
Of course it was insurable, not legally driveable, but that's another question.
When I've been in this situation, I've simply pre-booked an MOT with a friendly garage and called them with the reg number before setting off but you have to be sure you're buying something so that you're not messing them about by wasting one of their MOT slots.
You can get insurance immediately if you can find some internet access, there are some companies that offer "day" insurance, which would cover you for the trip home.

Thanks. Last time I bought my car on a bank holiday so the booked MOT jape wouldn't have been an option.Trying hard to be a good moneysaver.0 -
trailer, or see if you can hire parking until you can legally drive it
pay someone with a low loader to do it0 -
As far as I know, the vehicle does not have to be removed straight away, so, with a bit of fancy footwork and a few phone calls, you should be ok. At least it should have an mot, and insurance is transferrable, but I suppose you might have to take a flyer on the tax, although even that could be applied for, at least. Not easy, but lots of people do it, three times a week!0

As long as it has (or doesn't need) an MOT then buy it and get a friend to drive it on his insurance, as long as he has 3rd party cover to drive any other car not owned by him?
Sure most auction sites will store the car for a day or two while you sort MOT and insurance though.0 -
Save the hassle, have it delivered0
