Dualit Kettles - unreliable

I first bought the Dualit 72025 kettle nearly 5 yrs ago to match my Dualit toaster. I've had the toaster for a long time with no problems so I hoped that the kettle would be of equal quality.
It worked fine for just over 2 years then broke down. (The guarantee lasts for one year). I took it to a Dualit recommended repairer and who informed me that the repair would cost £80. As the kettle costs less than this (just) I decided that I would buy a new one and figured I had just been unlucky. Two and half years later the same problem has happened again. I phoned Dualit who have offered me a discount on my 'next Dualit kettle' but why would I buy another one when two have been so unreliable? Even with their discount, I could buy another quality brand for less. They also said they could not guarantee that I wouldn't have the exact same problem again, which seems to indicate little faith in their product and perhaps that it's even a known fault?
Dualit said that the kettle may have broken due to overuse, but as I live alone and I'm out a lot, it's only used a couple of times a day so I think that is unlikely. They said it should last at least 3000-5000 turn ons - I pointed out that I hadn't used it this much and they just 'ummed'
There are some quite poor reviews on Amazon for their kettles - I wish I'd checked them out first. Dualit kettles are marketed as 'premium' but in my experience don't last as long as budget brands. Their customer services appeared disinterested in accepting any responsibility saying that 'no electrical manufacturers will guarantee their products won't break down so quickly'.
I'm disappointed with Dualit. Whilst I am still a fan of their toaster, when the time comes to replace it, it won't be with another Dualit after this experience, and I certainly won't be buying the Dualit blender that I had my eye on.
