Are you sure you're allowed to remove people's entries does it say you can do that in your terms?;)
Unless you put something like if you have come from MSE and have copied and pasted the answers over your entry will be void i personally wouldn't be best pleased that you just took away my entry.Just let this one go as good will and then maybe think about your terms for future comps?:)

I know this is in Game Over now & it doesn't matter so much about 'bumping' in there!

I was alerted to the thread by pm & will add it to the Comping Guide for sites that don't want stuff posted. (NB - Just added them to the list here - Posting Comps, 4 Do any sites not want their comps/answers posted? )

I have to say though if I had bothered to enter this one then I'd be dropping Edwin Mutton an email to complain about the way this comp is being run - fancy just 'deciding' to remove entries which they think have been copied from here. That is certainly against the rules for promotions which are regulated by the ISP!!

And from his attitude, I for one won't ever darken his site in the future! What a rude man. He could have come on here to simply ask that the answers were taken down like other more reasonable sites!

I have to wonder if he understands that comps generate traffic for a site & OK so not everyone will have a look around the rest of the site but I've discovered loads of sites I'd have never even heard of thanks to their comps, even putting in orders & I know I'm not alone there!

If he hadn't been so sarcastic & rude then I'd wish him luck stemming the tide of the whole comping community as this is only a tiny corner of it :rotfl:but he was, so I won't

In Who wants to be a millionaire you can 'phone a Friend' or 'Ask the Audience'. The whole idea of answering questions is the fun of finding the answers collaboratively. Stale Popcorn initially gave the 'fun factor' and must have known that challenging trivial persuit questions do bring up discussions and debates as is human nature. It is sad and unfortunate that they have now become such killjoys and the brand name now leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Unlike the Independent/ Guardian/ Times / Telegraph who all post similar comps and deal with the resulting entrees with good grace and humour, hand out the prize to a winner picked out at random!

His post annoyed me because I'd helped with a lot of the answers as had various other people so we certainly hadn't cheated.:mad: And boo hoo, he had to sort through 200 or so entries. My heart (if I had one:p) bleeds for him. :rolleyes::rolleyes: It generated more traffic to his site than he would have normally got.

Would like to say what I really think of him but I'd probably break the poor MSE censor:p:D

Bumpety bump, because I've only just seen this

I'm sure, like quite a few people, I had a nose around their site, and I actually bookmarked for future reference. I love my films, so it seemed like a site I was interested in.

Of course, no longer in my bookmarks now "Gaz" has come on here acting like a 4 year old having a temper tantrum :rolleyes: - other site staff have come on here saying "can you please not post the answers", and obviously we've all agreed to this. What you have to remember, is that competitions also generate traffic, which in turn, means you can get away with charging advertisers more to advertise on your website. But obviously this chap didn't consider this when he came on ranting.

If no-one's done it already, I think I shall contact ISP, as this is definitely not the way to run a promotion. I did it for another unscrupulous site that decided to ignore their own T&C's (this is for a competition I didn't even enter!), and I'll not bat an eyelid about doing it again.

Don't worry about the bumping.

It would be very satisfying to know that someone had contacted ISP - would it be even better if more than one of us did it?

They deserve it after what they have said above.

They can't delete the post, as it's been quoted by VG!!

Hi,

First off, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Gareth and I am the site owner for Stale Popcorn.

I would just like to apologise for the way this has all been handled. I, myself, was unaware of the outcome of all the entries for this competition, and indeed the way that entries from here were handled.

While I own the site, the competition organised by Gazz was not under my control. I am sorry for any offence or trouble that his actions caused, but as the organiser of the competition those choices were his, and his alone, and I am certainly sorry if that has stopped you from visiting the site and entering any of the other competitions we are running currently/will be running in the future or enjoying any of the other content.

Nothing can be done about this competition, as as I said it was not under my control, but please feel free to continue visiting the site and posting the competitions here. I would ask, though, that the answers are not posted here. Most of the competitions we run have very easy answers anyway, so a little Google search shouldn't cause too much trouble.
