DLink Wireless Router Configuration Help!!!

Hi Guys

I need help to configure my dlink 624 router. Let me tell you what I want. I havent taken the broadband connection yet but still want to do the following experiment.

I have two laptops one with wireless adaptor. I have connected one laptop to the router using cable and other using wireless card. my router IP address is 192.168.0.1 and my two laptop IP address are 192.168.0.10 & 12. I have given default gateway as router ip address.
when I try to ping Laptop1 to laptop2 it gives me request timeout error. I cant access both laptop on
LAN or both laptop doesnt shares files each other.

Please let me know what I m doing wrong??

Is either laptop running a firewall? If so try disabling it temporarily.

Use the router as the DHCP server and let it assign the IP addresses and DNS automatically for each laptop. See if that works.
