Well I'm due to take it in for a service within the next month.
My mate's dad was disgusted we paid so much last time so a mechanic friend of his will do the basic service for me - It's a shame I didn't know about him before!
After that I'm hoping to change the oil filter after the next 5k miles as it's something I've always wanted to do, earn me man stripes!

Back on the antifreeze, do you know how much the pink stuff usually from Fords is?
    Cheers for your help

im not too sure, but i did buy some pink longlife stuff from vw for work and it cost a packet, found it from GSF for a fraction of the price for 4 times as much.
as long as its all the same kind thats in the focus thats all that matters.
we buy longlife comma antifreeze for work and its about £12 for 4.5 litres.and its pink!

If you're only topping up a 1 litre bottle will do as this will give around 2 litres of coolant (depending on mix ratio) and it will be about 5 or 6 quid

Oh, and when you change the oil filter, if you struggle to loosen it by hand and don't have a special tool, tap it gently but firmly with a hammer all around the filter and that will loosen it so you can undo it by hand
