help! birthday ideas for my 84yr old Mum

Mum will be 84 on jan 29th and I know I've left it a tad late but january has kinda sneaked up on me. I'm completely stumped, she doesn't want anymore clothes, jewellery or ornaments, photo frames etc. I tried to book her on a watercolour painting weekend as she loves painting but the ones we could get to (She lives in Perth) were all fully booked. A meal out isn't an option as unfortunately she's not too well at the moment and so eating is a chore, for the same reasons she can't have any massage etc treatments. She still has vouchers for the theatre that she hasn't used, and thats me at the end of my ideas

Please help!

Does she have a tv in her bedroom so that she can watch her fave shows in comfort if shes feeling a little under the weather or even a dvd player or video for her room?

All good ideas. She does have a tv with video in her bedroom, no dvd tho and doesn't want one! Bought her tons of art stuff for Christmas, brushes are alsways a good bet but wanted something different, she's been going through such a hard time just recently and has been so brave.

the photo session however is a distinct possiblity

cheers for all the help so far

a booklet of promises to do different things with and for her, ie decorate a room, have a lovely day together, a ride out in the car to see the spring lambs/daffodils, as easy/cheap or expensive/difficult as you like. tuck these in a box/hamper of goodies, if fave bath stuff, handcream or sweets/choc, if she can have things like this at present, given her inability to have meals out/treatments.

thats what I would like, and its my birthday on 29th too!

Quite nice half bottles of wine went down very well with my elderly relatives - my grandma wouldn't open a bottle just for herself and found the screw tops much easier anyway.
(and I want carolbee's suggestion for me too!)

I got my MIL at Christmas a box set filled with Greetings cards - It had 30 in it and was a selection of birthdays , thank you, baby, new house etc etc it was only £8.50 from Costco. SHe never remembers any occasions, or can't get out to get a card, I put in some books of stamps with it. It also came with a birthday planner book. She was delighted with it. All the cards are the handmade type that would cost about £2 each in the shops.
No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:
