How expensive is London!?!

I used to live in Preston and work in Warrington, and last time I had my car serviced I went to the Nationwide Autocentre in Warrington. They did a comprehensive full service and it cost about £120 (about half of what the Honda dealership wanted!).

I now live in London, the MOT is due, and it really needs a service too. I phoned our closest Nationwide Autocentre and asked how much a full service and MOT would be - £247! I couldn't believe how much it had gone up, so I tried the outlet in Preston (where my folks still live), and was told it would be £145.

I expect to pay a bit more for things in London, but £100 is pushing it! It would be cheaper for me to drive home and get it done there! Does anyone know why the huge difference?

There's a thread near the top of this board called:

"Told Car needed all round brakes replacing and it doesnt"

You might want to read it. Did you ask them why so much more? ask their headoffice.
  • Thanks Wig, I will check that out.

I was a bit too surprised to think coherantly when I phoned. I will try their head office on Monday and see what they say.

Slightly off-topic, I know, but how much do driving lessons cost in London? Here in good ole Barnsley they are about £12 per hour.

Its £24 in the one round the corner from here. It would be cheper for you to drive to Lowestoft and have it done here.

I'm so glad I passed 15 years ago!

Mind you, it did take me four attempts, and in the process cost me a countless amount of money!
