can i reclaim ppi whilst i am still paying off loan ?

Options
hi there
i wonder if anyone can give me some advice , we currently have a loan with halifax bank which was taken out in 2006 , there is ppi on this loan and i think it was sold as a single premium as there is a seperate piece of paperwork regarding the ppi , however after hearing all the news about ppi misselling i am wondering if i can reclaim as my partner is self employed and although looking through the paperwork it says self employed are covered but basically to be able to claim your business has to be wound up and if this happened we would be practically bankrupt which means we would de fault on the loan payments anyway also i have had a quick look through the paperwork and they only pay out for 12 months which doesnt seem fair as we are paying interest on this insurance for the whole period of the loan , i am wondering if it isnt possible to recalim refund if i could just cancel the ppi altogether , but it states in the paperwork this is not possible , if anyone has been in or come across a similar situation then i would be gratefull of any advice or info you might have
thanks

  • Your PPI will also cover sickness, accident and life as well i presume. The reasons given for unemployment cover being for 12 months is that it gives you a year to find another job.
