Do I need a server somewhere?

I want to be able to access my home Outlook calendar and email when I am on the move and have other people update it. I am thinking about getting something like a Blackberry so that I can update on the move. Will I have to create a "server" at home or are there service providers who will do this for me to keep my diary up to date. Apollogies if this is relates to "old" technology but I am a civil servant!!!

If your home PC is on all the time and connected to the Internet, it can be accessed from another PC/PDA/Handheld via the Internet.
Not too familiar with a Blackberry, but with a bog-standard PDA you would connect to the 'net via mobile phone or Wi-FI (eg via Wireless Hotspot or work network) and then Sync your calendar.
There are certainly programs around to do that for WinCE4/WM2003 devices - again, not sure if that encompasses Blackberry.

I agree with LincsLad, by the sound of it you have no need for a dedicated server. However, to achieve calender updates, you will need to have your current computer connected to the internet and on all the time. Not sure of the exact specifics of the blackberry but I would have thought that a new PDA would be your best bet.0
