Worcester boiler cold weather faults

Good morning: Many folks have been experiencing boiler faults due to the freezing of condensate waste pipes . Worcester Bosch has published the following advice

    hi thanks for that i have a worcester bosch boiler and have had hardly any heating this winter due to this ,surely they could have made a boiler that can work in freezing temperatures the company that fitted mine didnt even mention that the pipe needed lagged and now the house is freezing

    I think thats down to bad installation practices rather than the boiler!
    Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D

    This happened to mine a week ago.

    My boiler was installed about 4 years ago and the guy who installed it didn't seem very familiar with condensing boilers at the time. He didn't lag the condensate drain. To be fair the boiler manual doesn't mention insulating it anyway.

    Now I know about the problem I'm not too bothered. It's happened once in 4 years and was solved with nothing more than a hairdryer. I'm not even sure if I can be bothered to lag the pipe. A few watt-hours of hairdryer seem cheaper than pipe insulation even if it does happen again.
