TalkTalk Check VAT charges

I am with TALKTALK for my broadband and line rental. This afternoon i rang them and after 30 mins finally got trought to the right department. I wanted to change my call plan from talk international to My Talk, which i did. I got first 3 months for half price too and am not tied in to any contracts. Great was pleased.

Whilst waiting to get through i was viewing my bills on line. Looked at December 2008's bill and VAT was 2.67.
Looked at Novembers Bill and VAT was 3.05. Presumed this was due to the decrease in VAT.

Then i noticed that even thought the VAT had been reduced i was charged the same price of £20.49, my December bill had not been reduced by the VAT decrease, only 38p granted, but just wanted you to alert other talktalk customers to check their bills. Talk talk have credited my account with the difference.

Hope this helps a few more people save some pennies.

    Hi arrisr3vw,

There is a link on the TalkTalk Website for customers to register for credit adjustments following the VAT decrease. While call charges have all received their discounts plan and line rental credits will be applied in bulk. Any customers wanting to register for the discount can visit http://www.talktalk.co.uk/vat. Theres another thread on here somewhere too detailing this.

    Cheers

So you are only giving the VAT decrease to people who ask for it? Or have I missed something?

It is applied automatically for call costs, for plan and line rental reductions it must be applied for. I am not 100% sure of the reasons for this but there is more discussion about it on the TalkTalk Members Forum if you are interested. I'm afraid I dont make the decisions - I only post them.

The discounts is only for people who were customers before Dec2008 - and they have to apply for it through the link.

Payment will be made around May 2009.

I have asked TalkTalk, how much refund will we be receiving - they don't know!

I can only assume that what you pay, is a contract agreement, including VAT, so if VAT drops, price remains the same.

I can only guess that the refund is going to be more than the VAT savings, and the Price of our TalkTalk packages will remain un-altered throughout the VAT reduced period.

So in effect - anyone whowas a Talk Talk customer befor 2009, will be able to receive a VAT discount, those after, although paying same cost, will not be given a refund.
