No hot water upstairs - Advice on next approach
Hi, My landlord has been ok so far but I have some arrears so I have to tread carefully.
Anyway, the last few months I've been having bother with my boiler, Gas is costing me a fortune too. I switched over in December to EON and its costing me exactly the same if not more in my meter.
The problem I have is hot water upstairs. Never do I get hot water in the bathroom, always warm, so when I run the bath you need to get in right away, no need to run cold weather. You cant stay in the bath for longer than say 10 mins as it aint hot enough to stay hot.
My landlord got an engineer out on Monday and still its the same even after they said they replaced a part.
My landlord gets a bit off with me when I contact him to tell him of a problem so I am a bit worried about hassling them even when I really dont have a choice.
Any advice on what could be the problem? Or do you think its defo the boiler, just wierd how I have some hot water in kitchen tho.
Thanks

Its hardly the good solution but if you really dont want to contact the landlord (even though its your right, but I can sympathise with you) you could transfer the hot water from downstairs upstairs and use it. While this is a very 1970's solution, it would mean you dont have to make yourself uncomfortable ringing the LL, and would also be excellent exercise!0

Less exercise, but you could also try the In Your Home board as they often have trades people posting on there. It may not be a problem you can deal with yourself but you might get a diagnosis and some help there. Some drop in here to, but not so many. You might also want to retitle your post something like 'No hot water upstairs' or similar to draw their attention.0

Thanks both of ya. I a gonna try see if there is anyone any of my mates know who could just take a look until I pluck up the courage to face the landlord. The last time the engineer was here he showed me how to adjust the pressure and to keep it about 1 - 2 on the scale, its gone to 3 on its own so I would assume there is nothing wrong with the pressure. The water temp lights aint going to where they should be so maybe its that being the problem.
Anyway thanks for the replies.0 -
Hi Scotlady. Could you tell us the make and model of your boiler please. Also,do you find that the pressure guage keeps dropping to zero and you are forver topping it up? if so,how often? If you top the pressure up when its cold, say to 2 bar,how high does it get when the heating comes on?0
