Argh OH cashed in Nectar points in Sainsburys - any advice?

  • Unfortunately you can't get them added back on. However, if your husband is an additional cardholder you can prevent this from happening again. Log into your Nectar account online go into your account and change the permissions. By clicking in the name of the additional card holder it should bring up a box with allowed to redeem next to it uncheck it and problem solved for the future.

If he is not an additional card holder, order another card without perrmission to redeem and give it to him, so only you can use the primary card.
  • May not be the best value, but better than nothing. I use my Nectar card to collect bonus points offers received with statement, e.g. spend £35 in Debenhams get 1000 bonus points. I was buying stuff in the Debenhams sale anyway so will get £5 off in Sainsbury's or £10 in Adams.

Also used this site to switch my Gas/Electricity after getting a 5000 bonus nectar points offer to switch to EDF. It turned out switching to EDF would save me money and using Martin's advice I should also get £15 from SimplySwitch. So in addition to saving on my bills, I'll get £15 cash and £25 to spend in Sainsbury's or £50 in Adams. :T

I get the vouchers so my children can rent DVDs and games from Blockbuster during school holidays! 250 points voucher is good for one rental of any value (usually £3.95)

You can also use your nectar point 2000 (worth £10 at Sainos) for a 1 month membership at Cannons Gym for 2 people! normally worth (£70). I think this is by far the best deal out of both Tesco and Nectar points! Even if your not going to use, I am sure that the parents or kids would appreciate it. At £10 equivilant for two people/month is fab value... works out less then 15p/person/day!!! :)
  • I think if shopping is not his thing, it's good that he tried to help out. Did you explain to him what Nectar points were beforehand and ask him not to cash them in? Poor guy probably thought he was doing you both a favour saving money on the shopping, only to be shot down in flames and it's not exactly going to encourage him to do more shopping. Give him a big hug for trying, emphasise the positives, not the negatives. :)

He was not helping out - and is in the doghouse already about something else!
I won't go into that though - I am cross enough already! :silenced::mad:

Oh and trying to explain anything to him just winds him up as he is not stoopid and does not need any instructions....:naughty:

And it won't be hug that he gets! More like the bill for kids uniforms I was planning on buying around half term! Don't think he will be quite so pleased with himself then!

Anyway - will be taking a nice long bath to try to relax and forget about it!

(After I have changed the cashing in permissions! Thanks aurorahelios, Just wish I had known about that earlier! )

    Hi
I am hopping mad!!! Hubby does shopping (with list written in detail!) and gets lots of wrong stuff (more expensive!) AND to top it all, cashes in ALL the nectar points that I have been saving at till - because they asked!

I asked customer services the following day if could put them back and they said couldn't help sorry!_pale_

Anyone else been in similar situation? Is there really nothing to be done? :wall:

Only one thing to be done - divorce the idiot and head to the money-savers arms to meet someone more savvy...
    I think....

Well seems there adding more to the collection in regarding in how you can "cashin" your Tesco reward points.

Tesco do sometimes change where you can use vouchers but they are definitely better than Nectar cos can use them on loads of things at 4 x their face value.
I have used them on holidays at Haven, Disneyland Paris, Wightlink ferry, Warwick castle day out, Cadbury World day out, Butlins holiday.
