PC World Collect @ Store service (or not!)

Just found out there's some small print attached to this service.
I wanted to order an item this morning using this service. Item is £79.99 instore and £48.51 using Collect @ Store.
The order pages said there was none in store at my local branch but I knew for a fact there were two in stock.
I called the customer service line and a helpful chap told me he would check stock levels with the store and if there were any I could reserve one at the cheaper price for pick-up today.
He spoke to the store who agreed there were indeed 2 in stock but they couldn't sell me one as if there are 2 or less then they are not able to let them go at the Collect @ Store price and have to sell them at full price.
I don't remember seeing that anywhere on the PCWorld site! The customer service chap hadn't heard of that either and he tried to get them to let me have one to no avail.
Maybe they should change the name of their service to.... Collect @ Store (Maybe)!

I can see both sides of the coin here. If there are only a couple left they would probably manage to sell them at the full price until they got more in. However they are advertising a service and should be able honour it if they have stock of the product at the store you want to pick it up at - ah well their loss!Weight Loss - 102lb0

Well surely they should be ordering more in ages before they run out of stock so I can't see why they won't sell them at Collect @ Store price.
I have never used the service, but all the items I ever look at are usually not available for Click @ Store or are out of stock () anyway so the service is a little pointless.0 -
What I find a little dubious is that out of 18 stores checked....only 1 is showing as having stock.
I have a feeling this is one of those limited or deliberately restricted offers. I wonder why it is so many stores either don't have the item, or only have 2 or less therefore rendering the offer unavailable.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I agree they shouldnt be offering the service if they cant provide it. If they have stock surely out of good customer service should allow it to be clicked and collected!Weight Loss - 102lb0
