How do i start?

Just a quick question on bankruptcy, How do i start the proceedings if ifeel this is the best route for me.Do i contact the local court for the documents to fill in or contact one of the IP firms you see advirtised? just wanted to know how to start the ball rolling?

if youve took advice on that br is the best option for you, you can do the forms online or request them from either the courts or the citizens advice. you dont need to go to any firms you see advertised as they will charge you stupid amounts to do the forms and they are abit confusing but as long as you have the info they are fairly simple.
ring up your county court to see what sort of service they do whever is drop in or appointments, they are very busy so be prepared to wait a few weeks

Welcome to the forum! The first thing you need to do is talk to at least one of the debt charities listed in the first thread on this board. They will give you free, impartial advice about the best route for you in your particular situation. As Lisa says, definitely DON'T go to any company that charges you for advice or help - the charities do exactly the same job for free!
If BR is the way forward for you, the Judge will ask you on the day you go BR whether you have taken advice from one of the charities, and may delay your BR if you haven't!
