Tech bods, are 1&1 a bit carp?

I ask because...
I've had a basic hosting package with them for a bit (and done nothing with it). My annual fees were billed recently: then I decided I wanted to install Wordpress on a domain and found I needed to upgrade to a business package to do that.
So I upgraded (and didn't read all the small print: yes, I 'fess up!). Now it seems I have been charged part of the original (basic) invoice, and the full amount for the new upgraded package. The waters are muddied a bit by VAT, but it looks like, while my additional domains have been credited on the new bill (as they are covered by the terms of the upgrade), there has been NO pro rata rebate of the basic rate hosting fee. I sort of assumed there would be: guess I was wrong! So effectively I am paying for BOTH basic and business hosting for the next year. (I am a bit worried this might go on for longer than a year too, however irrationally).
I will be bringing it up with 1&1, (and reading the terms and conditions) but thought someone else might already have experience of this?

Scratch that, I was looking at a year old invoice. No rebate on the basic invoice whatsover: full amount charged.0

Am I being unreasonable? In effect, I'm paying what a brand new customer would pay for a business package: PLUS the basic package I was already paying for, with the same domains (which I should get free under the business package). No rebate or credit, none. That doesn't seem like an 'upgrade' as they term it: just paying for two packages and getting one.
The more I think about I just get hazy. Am I unreasonable?
Reading my OP it's slightly misleading: I upgraded just before receiving the invoice for the basic package (although it was dated prior to that).0 -
I've no idea what your problem is, nor I suspect do you. I have had a 1and1 website for just over two years and found them very goodIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Well, thanks... I guess. I suppose after I've outlined the situation in detail, if you haven't grasped it now you never will. Ta for trying, though.
Anyone else? Oh and BTW would another board be a better fit? I wasn't entirely sure, but it seemed to fit here more than anywhere else I could see..0
