Perhaps someone can answer this: I can't write to my floopy,it says, disk is write protected undo write protection and try again. This i have done, still the same problem.I tried to formatt the disk but same message. And it says cannot compress disk, drive A is locked. I have never come across this be fore. Have packbell club 40B running 98. Thanks anybody.

Hopefully you'll get an answer, but what I'd try is rebooting the system and then try a completely different floppy.0

How many dikettes have you tried? If you have only tried the one check the position of the write protect plastic tab on the diskette.

check that the slider on the floppy disc slides properly(The disc not the drive),sometimes they get stuck. You should be able to slide it across easily with your fingers.
If you find it is stuck and wont slide open and you desperately need what is on it,you can remove the slider(drastic last resort) from the disc very carefully. You'd have to copy the contents to another floppy.0 -
