Shower screen is too small

Just fitted a framed shower screen from homebase, measuring 70cm. Problem is during a shower, water is still being sprayed past the screen and onto the floor. Shower is tilted as far down as possible. So I'm thinking the only option is go back to a curtain which you can pull as far along as you want???

70cm was never going to be wide enough IMO. A standard bath is 170cm long and I'd guess you'd need a screen at least 2/3rds of the length of the bath (the same as my suggestion for tiling to the ceiling 2/3rd the length of your bath :) )- so say 120cm.

A quick look at homesupply (only picked them as that who i got alot of bathroom stuff from) gives a couple of suitable ones:

    or

..not sure on the practicalities of the first big wide screen when you want a bath or getting in (though it looks nicer IMHO)...hence the suggestion of the folding 4-panel one. If you can justify an additional £200 or so then shop around a bit and you may find a better deal or nicer looking folding screen. Alternatively i'd get a shower rail and curtain. At the old flat we had a tension shower rail and curtain from argos (no screw holes so minimal damage to walls if you change your mind!). If this is for rental then i'd probably go with the rail and curtain which are considerably cheaper and easily replaceable.

We had folding 4-panel one and hated it. The rubber used to come out and it never sealed properly at the bottom. We eventualy replaced it with one similar to the first one and it was fine. Looked a lot nicer not having a frame on it too.

You say the shower is tilted down - have you lowered it on the rail too?

I've got a power shower and a glass screen and find that if the shower head's high it doesn't matter what angle it's at, it'll splash out.

  • when i bought it ages ago i just assumed the width would be ok, thought it was a standard size that would easily block the shower spray. its just not wide enough. height wise its ok. i would happily get shot of it and buy a rail and curtain but now it has sealant where it joins the wall and also the holes in the tiles its attached too! what can i do ! :S

I have seen over bath showers that have another glass door that fits to the far side of the bath and shuts to meet the other door to create a cubicle.
there is one on here at the bottom of the page but it is for a curved bath.
