I'm very pleased with my Shure E2c earphones. They fit a bit deeper in the ear than normal 'phones, thus blocking out a lot of background noise so you can hear the detail in the music. I think they were originally about £75, but I got a pair a few months ago for about £45 on Amazon.

I bought some Shure E110s from play.com for £17.99 - they rock. Shame you can't buy them at that price anymore

I suspect that was a pricing error ringo. You did well.

Nope, it wasn't - they ran a 'daily special' before xmas.. also, they were put into the post-xmas sale at the same price.

It was just a very good bargain

That's a great price; I use Shure SE530s, and I love them. They make great earphones.

Anyone tried out Apple's latest earphones? I had a pair of their previous in ear ones (not the kind that come with the iPod), and they weren't half bad.

£54 for twin driver earphones is a pretty good price, and the mic would be handy for anyone with an iPod Nano or Touch.

It's just a pity they don't include them with new iPods.
  • To get Shure headphones for that price was a steal. I use the SE420s (decided to splash the cash after my E2c eventually died) and value them more than the iPod I use it with.

But bang for buck, normally Sennheiser are hard to beat. Good quality, comfortable and widely available.

My vote is Sennheiser CX300s. They are quite good at blocking external noise and come with different sized surrounds, so it is easy to get a comfortable fit. Avoid buying off ebay though as there are many fakes about.
  • Thanks for all he advice above, I travel a lot and use my ordinary ipod headphones when I am on planes. I'v never been totally pleased with them but never motivated enough to do anything about it.

My ipod ones are now falling abart and I need a replacement and as luck may have it i'll be in Dixons Tax fre at the airport this evening. If I was to replce the ipod ones with the same quality how much would I expect to pay. I've seen sony, phillips etc... in Dixons before for £10-£20. Would this be an improvement on Ipod ones?

Not keen to splash out one £50 types because unfortunealty they get a fair bit of physical action, thrown in bags, laptop shoved in on top etc...

That's a tricky one Lee, because people's ear shape and size vary so much, what is a good fit for one may be useless for another, and of course, due to health considerations, you can't try them in-store.
Very true, I bought a Sony player a few months back, which came with ear buds as standard in 3 sizes, and they are more or less useless to me, even the smallest size won't fit my ear, I found if I took the silicon ends off all together then they worked, but this is less than ideal, so would be cautious before spending a lot of money, unless you have used them before.

  • Just a note to thank everyone above. I decided on the Seinhesser CX-300's which I ordered from amazon at £16.99. They are brilliant and worth every penny!
