Is this a stupid question? Why.....
hasnt the price of energy fallen in line with oil? I know there is not 100% correlation, but once upon a time (12 months ago) the rising price of oil was often cited as the reason for multiple double digit energy price rises.
some may have forgotten, but I have not. If they are ever reduced, am I correct or cynical to believe they will wait for warmer weather? thats how much faith I have in them.
I have written to my MP on this matter today. What are others doing to have the energy bosses brought to account on this matter? I suggest you contact your MPs on this scandal.
It was once fashionable for the news sector to bang on about the price of oil and rising energy prices, but now they don't seem to be asking or pressuring for answers as to why the price of oil has fallen dramatically and yet the price of energy hasnt followed. It should be reduced now. Not next month, or year but now!
Finally, dear martin, what are you doing on this? :j jacking jumps?

As has probably been explained hundreds of times in the media and on this website, the suppliers buy the energy months in advance, so the energy we are using at the moment was bought at a higher price than the current wholesale prices.0

I imagine the current action of the ruskies will be used by the energy companies as one of the reasons for not reducing the prices.0

Good argument, except when prices were rising it didnt take them long to up them. The average UK bill is £1,293, some 42% higher than the same time last year.
Oil prices have been falling since very early July. 6-months on that argument just doesnt wash.
This was taken from the BBC website 5/1/09
"The price of gas on the wholesale market has fallen by about 30% since mid-2008.
Suppliers say that contracts that they took out during the summer are now coming to an end, allowing them to benefit for from the current lower market price.
The industry is still under investigation by the energy regulator, Ofgem, which is looking into how it passes on cuts to its customers.
In its interim report in December, Ofgem said the pace of delivery of the cuts had to be faster."
