Selling your home in Uk??

Options
Hi guys

I am a web designer. My Parents sold there house about a year ago, and paid their estate agents about £3000. which was a joke. So i started to do research into this matter and found Rightmove.co.uk. With rightmove you sell your home privately. They ask for a one off fee of £75 up to i think around £150 depending on the size of your advert. Now i know for a fact that this is a high price for advertising space on the web. So what i propose is if there is enough interest i will create a website and advertise houses on there for a tiny fee of £10 per house. with up to 3 pics and all the detail in writing.

Please let me know what you think on this matter.

Many Thanks
Kingstewbuse

the problem is that you would need to contact a huge amount of estate agents to get them on board as no one will look at a website with 3 homes on it.
then with marketing costs being cut as most have their own websites anyway, people not being able to sell their houses despite being on right move, and so on and so on.

maybe if this was done 3 years ago then it could become established and used by customers and vendors.

i think you may have got your timing wrong.

    just my views though

  • BrummyBloke much appreicated comments this is something that i have considered myself. Estate agents will always go for the best deal. Im sure rightmove wont go down to £10 per house.

    Please all feedback welcome

this is not an advert im simply offering my services as i am disgusted with the way things are. and if we all can benfit from somthing like this then doesnt that mean we all win??

there are already a number of sites that take privarte sellers at a low cost - ( I own a couple myself - one aimed at my local area , and another for natioonwide - both yet to be launched ) buts its a matter of getting a large enough presence / traffic + sellers being prepared to deal direct with buyers + ensuring you don't fall foul of OFT rules on being an agent
