    Hello,
I hit a pheasant in November and my radiator was replaced with my insurance. Since the work was done water has been pouring out of the water pump.
The garage said that it has nothing to do with the original dammage and is just coincidence and of course my insurance provider are refusing to pay for the pump replcament!
Sadly I don't know enough about the cooling system to know if this is just coincidence or as a result of the pheasent?!
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thank you very much

Won't be the pheasant mate unless it entered the actual engine bay area.

Water pump is run off the cam belt/chain usually which is on the side of the engine

No chance the accident caused damage to the water pump

.Does that mean we are all inbred

    I don't belive in coincidence.
When it's replaced, get the old pump back, make sure there is no damage to the impeller/shaft caused by a piece of radiator being sucked into it. If there is, pursue the insurance.
Get it done asap, if it seizes it can strip the cam belt and destroy the engine.
Thinking about it, it's better to change the cam belt too, (full kit) as they don't like being disturbed.

Thanks very much for your answers, I'll get it straight to the garage to get the cam belt done at the same time as the pump if that's a good idea

It'd be a million to one chance - the capilliaries in a radiator aren't big enough to let a lump of radiator fin past, not that there is any chance of a lump coming off from a bird hitting it or even a head on collision.

Changed because it was just a bit dirty?
