Declined Virgin card

I have recently been declined a credit card application by Virgin.
I have good credit limits on other cards but I need one that is at 0% to transfer another card balance to.
Could I have been declined because I already have other cards eg Alliance and Leicester, Barclaycard and Halifax.
I never miss a payment and have not had a problem before.
I need something ASAP as my 0% goes to 16% soon.
Thanks

Don't know if it would have had an impact, but both Virgin & A&L are run by MBNA. Depends on your A&L account history.0

Hi there
See this link here:

Because A&L and Virgin are part of same group, if you already have a card of one of the member co's then they're likely to decline or offer a low credit limit only.
I already have a virgin card so will not be trying any of the mbna cards (which have good 0% deals for bal transfers at the mo). Having yesterday been declined (as per my own thread!), I have trying my own bank next : )0 -
Virgin and Alliance & Leicester are inded both run by MBNA.
However, MBNA allow you to hold more than one of their cards provided they are branded differently.
They can offer low limits on subsequent cards however they will allow you to move any used Credit Limits over the the new card, hence maximizing your available credit.
There are reports of people holding more than 5 MBNA cards at the same time.0 -
Can't understand why I would be declined except they are both MBNA cards as mentioned in your posts.
Blooming nightmare as I need a 0% one.
Never mind, life goes on.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

The most likely explaination is the unprecendednted credit crunch and quite possibly nothing to do with you personally.0

Hi, I had similar problem, I was turned down by Virgin, but last night tried my bank (HSBC) for their offer for current account holders only and they accepted. I have a poor credit history and been trying in the last 18months to improve it and its obviously worked, I can now balance transfer from my Capital One card for poor credit with a very high % and close that account to a 0% for 15months.
I'm so chuffed as I never thought I'd get accepted again for 'normal' credit0 -

I'm very pleased for you sueby78. Your hardwork has obviously paid off. Well done!0 -
I was turned down by Virgin a couple of years ago, despite having an excellent credit record, and only one other card with Barclays. Can only assume I was not the profile customer they were looking for. Have since refused to pay a penny for any Virgin product whatsoever.Been away for a while.0

Snap! Exactly the same happened to me with Virgin despite having an excellent credit record except Amex are also on my blocked list as well now due to the way they have been treating me lately.0 -
I agree totally.Running_Horse wrote: »I was turned down by Virgin a couple of years ago, despite having an excellent credit record, and only one other card with Barclays.
