What Is An S.e.d. Code From Comet

I have a bush widescreen tv that has gone wrong just before the 5 year warranty expires,the engineer said it is not repairable and to contact the service dept which i have found to be impossible even after going through customer service and spending an hour on the phone, customer service keep saying an s.e.d. code has not been issued yet.
So i have two questions,? what is an s.e.d. code, and what should i say in the email/ letter telling them to get their act in gear and give me another tv or comet vouchers re the warranty t&c.
