Anyone in Derry know these car parks and possibly how much it costs?
Victoria Square
Queens Quay
Quayside Multistorey
We are staying at the City Hotel next weekend and they have advised to used one of them if their own car park is full.
Thanks a lot!
PS - Any tips/advice for eating out in Derry? nothing too fancy lol

To be honest I'd be surprised if their own carpark was full, although it is quite small. I'm not sure how much the carparks are but they are not hugely expensive if memory serves. I would imagine if the carpark is full the best bet would be to park temporarily in one of these and then move it to the hotel carpark later in the day. It's worth knowing that almost all of the on-street parking in Derry is free although there are a few urban clearways (shouldn't be an issue if you are there over a weekend). I think your best bet would be to ask the hotel again as I thought they had a deal with Quayside for their parking......
With regards eating, I would recommend Mange 2, never had a bad meal there any time I've been down.Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

Stayed at Travellodge recently and used Quayside.
From 4:00pm Sunday until about 10:00am Monday car park was around £15. Staff there said that there was free paring in Waterside a few hundred yards awy but it would have to be moved by 8 next morning otherwise they will fine you.
Decided just to pay the parking as i didn't fancy getting up so early on a frosty morning.

Thanks for those replies. From what I have read on the travel forums there is only 40 car park spaces and over 200 rooms and hard to get a space. Would prefer a space at the hotel (obviously lol) not very keen on leaving my car in a multi storey for 2 days.
We would be arriving Sunday lunch time and leaving Tuesday afternoon.

Hey just read your post and it was as if you had read my mind. I have just booked to stay in the city hotel in Feb and was wondering about the parking.
Let me know how you get on, i have never visited the city before.0 -
City hotel has a 1 level underground car park which is normally pretty busy (couldnt go any deeper underground otherwise theyd be in the river lol!).
Victoria MARKET, not Square - Council/DOE car park (manned pay at barrier type) - its opposite the hotel and usually pretty busy during day but open 24hrs. usually a few cars in there late at night. Would advise this one.
Queens Quay - Council/DOE again - pay and display - there is a small section at the end of the car park (furthest from hotel) that is non pay n display (IE FREE) - this is on the river side of the hotel, across the road from hotel (other side of hotel from victoria market) - be careful with this one as the wardens are out early to catch those who leave their cars free overnight and dont have a ticket in the morning!!!
with the 2 above car parks you will only have to pay during the opening hours.
Quayside Multistorey - Large private car park to rear of hotel adjoining tesco quayside shopping centre. probably dearer than others. think access times are restricted.
Sorry not sure about prices as dont have a car!!!
Just park up the the drive/layby outside and the girls outside will direct you to around the roundabout to victoria market if the car park is full upon arrival0 -
oh and the food in the hotel is good but would recommend Exchange (across the road) which will be really busy so get there early (cant be booked) there are a few good places with 5 mins walk of hotel
flamin jacks - good food like exhange but loess of a wait on table usually
Mandarin Palace (best chinese in NI!) and the owner stan usually does a karaoke later on at the weekends!! - overlooks the river too - again prob busy at weeknd but i think u can book0 -
I live in Derry and would caution - don't leave valuables in car, they do get broken in to even in car parks! Secondly, the streets can be quite dodgy at night, after 1am don't linger. Apart from that the city is actually nice, O'Doherty fort worth a look at and some great pubs. What age group/music do you like, personally I like Sandinos beside the bus station (yellow) very chilled and friendly. You can see all sorts of political tours from visiting the bogside to the various orange historical sites. Wish someone would change the name of the place to cut out the debates...something like Foyle would do:rotfl:0

Thanks facingthefuture Im a bit wary of leaving my car in a public car park overnight, I love my wee car with my go faster stripes:rotfl: so it draws attention iykwim.
We are both in 30's, just like normal wee pubs, no nightclubs (relaxing break lol) We would like to do one of the walking tours (dont think the bus tour is on this time of year) and see some of the sites. Any recs?

Does anyone know how far / how long would it take to walk from the hotel the diamond area & city walls? (are the shopping centres within walking distances?)
Thanks again:beer:Norn Iron club member - 2650
