5 year warranty

I am going to buy a Sony Bravia KDL26V4000U TV. I can get an extended Sony 5 year warranty for an extra £38 which covers parts and labour. I am tempted to opt for this but I have no experience of LCD TV and how likely they are to go wrong. This seems good value but I am wondering what others may think?

    How much is the TV?

If you buy from John Lewis they will price match bricks and mortar stores and give you a 5 year guarantee included in the price. Richer sounds charge 10% of the purchase price for a 5 year guarantee I believe so may be worth checking there as well.

The warranty is a very small % of the cost of the tv and as it's a Sony warranty I'd certainly go for it for peace of mind.

Hi I agree with BillScarab Check on john lewis web site they do offer a free 5 warranty and useally cheaper than all stores including those muppets at comet.
the customer service at J L is the best in the world also we had a fault on our new tv last year and before i could tell them about it they said " When would you like a replacement delivered"?
Also check on sonys web site to see what warranty comes with the tv and them go on domestic and generals web site and get a quote off there.
D & G is who comet etc use.

I would spend £38 for piece of mind
That's less than £8 a year so seems a fair price to me :)

Sounds decent to me, same deal as Richer Sounds 10% of the purchase price.
