If you dont laugh!
I have been with BG for electric since Nov 2006 (have always had Gas from them) DD was set at £50 just for electric. I had applied for dual fuel but the call centre beat me in to submission on my many attempts to get it in order. Anyway it seems that since June 07 until Nov 08 for some bizarre reason (just lucky I guess) BG have only collected £7.........honest. So you do the maths they now want £1,978 OR ELSE. I have, since I realised in Nov 08 been trying (phone x 8 email x 4 letters x 3 and waited in for calls) to get some solution. They have offered 10% off, now is it unreasonable of me to say not enough? Its taken 17 months for them to notice:mad: .
I accept half the blame, I should have checked the amounts on my bank statement but to be honest I do check, but names of companies only not amounts:o . Is it unreasonable to have expected BG to mange my account and DD? I did get bills of over £1000 and still no change in the amount. They last asked me for £50 which in my ignorance I assumed was going out.
Luckily (for me) I have been putting the full £50 away so have a good lump towards it but not it all and what about others?
Has this happened to anyone else? What if I was a pensioner or just plain skint or even worse in today’s world just laid off from work.

BG are inept and ruthless - so beware.
I switched electricity away from them and they made a mistake and sent me a cheque for £100 with a nice letter saying here's what we owe you, the account is now clear, sorry you're leaving and goodbye.
I hard nothing more for 6 months - no letter, no phone call, no nothing - until a debt collection agency started writing threatening court action unless I paid what I owed!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
