I am looking at wireless routers and would appreciate your views.
I don't want to spend more than £50
I am looking at the following:

If I had to decide I would go for the Linksys one because I have heard bad stories about Belkin. It is also a good deal because I can't find it elsewhere.0

do not choose the wag54g - it is utter rubish -
belkins are flaky too
netgear are by far the best but they are more expensive. If you use pc world you will need to spend more than £50 to get a decent rouetr.0 -
Thanks tigermatt. they should both be 125MBPS so speed shouldn't be an issue. Could use USB access point for work lappy if brought it home, but will prob buy own by end of year - with built in wireless, so has limited appeal in that sense.
BTW as per your signature, winxp sp2 .;)0 -

So, Chuffy, on that note, I would recommend you have another look - I usually recommend Netgear kit but this is a little more expensive.
Also have a look at eBuyer.co.uk as they are pretty cheap.0 -
I have used both, no problems so far.ac's lovechild0

I'm using the Linksys WAG54GS and it works fine for me both wired and wireless. Had a Linksys BEFSR41 (wired only) before the WAG54GS and no problems with that either. Bought a Belkin hub a few years ago, not really very impressed with it, quite flaky. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

i went through 8 belkin routers in about 12 months0

I wouldn't pigeon hole a whole brand just because of one model. And any products will have a percentage of unhappy users. And even then it can still be user error as opposed to a defective product.
For example the Netgear DG834GT is quite awful, but the DG834Gv1 is very good. Belkin has some very good routers, the Pre-N namely, but that'll be out of your price range. I'd look per model, rather than a manufacturer as a whole.
Of the two I'd go for the Linksys, it's a very good deal. The WRT54G is quite a solid router (had problems with earlier releases but they've all be sorted). You can also install the OpenWrt (http://openwrt.org/) firmware (instead of the official firmware). It's coded by the community, and offers a lot more selectable functionality to the router. For me personally, the ability to use OpenWrt alone sells it."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
