I can assure you my IS is paid weekly in arrears, as my payment schedule posted above shows.

Note the first normal payment is paid on the 27th and covers the 20th-27th.
As is mine, and my new payment schedule is exactly the same as yours.

In my case my IS was paid 3 months in agreers but that's a whole other story ;) lol (and issue)

JSA claimers are already paid fortnightly in arrears and that is wy it will not affect them.

If you read it correctly, the people paid in advance are those receiving IS PLUS another benefit!!

And, as I pointed out a) not everyone receives the same benefits as you - so your calculation doesn't apply to everyone and b) different things happen on different benefits.
It might be 'a pretty dense document' by your standards but it is quite clear if you read it properly!
I have read it properly. And I'm trying to point out that it has different parts for different benefits. Amongst those parts is a very clear statement that JSA people won't receive a letter - even if their pay day changes. Obviously you were the one who didn't read it properly

The only people who are paid in advance are those receiving the benefits listed (and maybe a few very exceptional cases).

The vast majority of people on income support will not be receiving bereavement benefits and will therefore be paid weekly in arrears, as I am.

It also clearly states people on JSA will receive all the benefit they are entitled to, so I am assumin they are not going to go without their benefit for a week or two, as wth other benefits?

the reason jsa claiments wont recive a letter is they will prob be told at there fortnightly sighning on session as they have regular contact with job centre plus while other claiments do not

Can we as a group not split hairs over who will be getting what letter/who will be moved to what system, instead focus on how people can save to avoid having to borrow? Only looby75 has offered any constructive help. Who really would complain if they've saved when they didn't need to? - at least these people can think 'good I've now got something for a rainy day'

Yes, that will be more helpful, I agree.

Personally, I have stocked up on food via Approved Foods and been making sure there is a little left over each week, as I do not want to take the loan.

I fugure, so long as there is enough in there to cove rmy DDs and we have some food in the cupboard, then I can manage without other things for a few days.
  • The thing is really to have a storecupboard. Every week buy a couple of extra non-perishables (beans, tomatoes, tins of mushrooms, pasta, rice etc) and then you will have enough to live on for a few days if necessary.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

I've never been that impressed with Approved foods, maybe I just haven't managed to hit it right but there is never anything that practical on there when I look, lots of things like sesame oil and gluten free pasta but no "normal" stuff.

I would also suggest buying woopsies (reduced items) and freezing them, my freezer is normally pretty full of yellow ticketed items...I say normally but my ds accidentally turned my freezer off at the wall just before we left to spend the week at my sisters :( I've lost at least a weeks worth of food

They can use their existing store-cupboard items. They don't need to buy more new stuff. It's only seven days! It's not as if many of the lower classes couldn't do with losing a little weight, anyway
