Hi, i'm looking to buy a portable dvd player and i have some divX/MPEG/MP4 files on my hard drive which i can burn to a cd but not a dvd.(i don't have a dvd burner at all).
The question is, if a portable dvd player says that it plays divX as well as the usual dvds/cds does this mean that it will only play the MPEG/divX movie files that are burnt to a dvd-r? or will it play thise movie files which are burnt to a cd-r (which is what i can do at moment).
I'm just wondering if it's worth me paying the extra for divX/MPEG feature on a dvd player when i won't be able to use it anyway.
Can anyone clarify this at all?
If it's any help the portable dvd player i was looking at is the Shinco 1720a.

Yes you will be able to play these files on a DIVX player via a cd , but remember that a cd will only take about 700mb of data compared to 4.5 gigs for a dvdr. Hope this helps

Hi
Totally agree with pennies, Shinco DVD player, excellent buy, by all accounts, plays almost everything you can throw at it.
Have you thought about buying a dvd burner for pc, you can get a good one for about £30+, straightforward to fit, especially if you take out your old cd writer and replace, advantage you can then burn all the film to one dvd disc.
Hope this helps0 -
I bought the Shinco 1720c from amazon a few weeks back, plays everything I've thrown at it. Including divx/xvid files burt to a normal CD-R as data. Exellent player.Sigless0
