How can I maximize my savings potential in this minefield of options?

Hello all
I have just over £100 in each of these building societies:
Chelsea
Portman
Hinckley and Rugby
Melton Mowbray
Brittania
Market Harborough
Leeds and Holbeck
Nationwide cashbuilder
Loughborough
Nationwide 60 day direct
Been hoping for a windfall for a very long time! Was fortunate enough to open these accounts before we had to sign any windfall away, but building societies having been very quiet on the demutualisation front for many years now, I'm wondering whether I should still keep these amounts in or put somewhere else.
I also have £6000 in a NS&I ISA and nearly £18K in Premium Bonds.
Is there something better I could be doing with my savings? I am currently self employed, on minimum wage and my savings are my pension, so any advice on how I can maximize my savings potential would be most appreciated. It's a minefield out there and I'm very grateful that a site like this exists!

It looks as though the days of windfall payments by BS are a thing of the past. It will be interesting to see what happens when (I don't think there is much doubt that it will happen) the Co-op bank and Britannia merge, or whatever it will be, takes place. Both organisations are purportedly non profit making0

If you still have a Portman account, hurry down to the Nationwide and claim your windfall. They merged 2 years ago.
