Sony wega tv problem :(

My folks have a sony wega tv with a built in freeview box, the thing is when its switched on, the picture is ok, but a red light keeps flashing 5 times, has a break & then begins again on the on/off/remote control section bit.

This goes on for a while...any thoughts are much appreciated, thanks

Check the owner's manual and if you don't have it, post the model number.

If you haven't got the manual handy look here and failing that you could call the Sony Customer Information Centre on 08705111999 sorry it's not a geographic number.:)

Do you mean the television switches itself off, we had a similar problem with this set. It would switch itself off, and then the sound would keep coming back on and going off again. The standby light on the front just kept flashing at the same time. The only way to get it to work again was to turn it off completly and leave it for a short while.

its a integrated digital tv, dvb trinitron model, sorry but due to a shoulder injury can't move the tv to see the model no @ the back....:(,
