LAN connected but no internet access

I have a Sky wireless router and 2 laptops and a main computer. We have had problems with the sky wireless router not working on one of the laptops, but solved that by using a cable (so not wireless!) Now I have a problem with the main computer (connected via cable too). The icon says that LAN is connected and the 2 computers flash, but the internet comes up with the you are not connected to teh internet page. Anyone any tips?

Have you tried the autofix option? When you click the icon that shows your network connections (probably in the icon tray, looks like a monitor) then the dialog that appears shows the network with your computer linked to the network then linked to the internet. If you double click the connecting lines you should get another dialog pop up that says windows is trying to fix the problem automatically.
I don't have a sky router but I know that occasionally I have a problem that can be fixed by restarting one piece of hardware or another (the router or the pc that won't connect), assuming the autofix doesn't work.0 -
Has it ever worked on the LAN cable?
What operating system are you using?
I'd check that in the LAN connection's properties it is set to receive settings automatically and also run the connection setup wizard in the Internet control panel. I've known Windows to not even try to connect to the Internet through a LAN connection until you tell it to in that wizard.0
