Cannot get some channels on Freeview on Panasonic TH37PX80B plasma?

I hope someone can help me with this one. I have a Panasonic TH37PX80B TV with built in Freeview tuner, and I have SkyHD too, but have no rooftop ariel at all. So, I have plugged my portable freeview ready ariel into the rear of the TV so I can record 2 channel on Sky when needed, as at the moment I obviously have to watch one of the channels with having JUST Sky. Now its fine on my portable TV with seperate Freeview box upstairs, the box finds all the channels, but on this TV, when I go onto auto tuning, it starts at 21 and goes up to 60+ instead of starting at channel 1, and its missing out ITV1 and Channel 4, which I cannot understand, any ideas for me?

Better signal being received by the portable aerial upstairs, rather than (presumably, from your description) downstairs?

Basically the TV is not getting a strong enough signal, replace portable aerial with correct roof mounted aerial.

You need a roof top aerial assuming you are in a area that can take freeview

Cheers for replies guys but it seems very strange that its JUST those 2 channels missing and the signal strength/quality meters on the tuning menu are both on 10 out of 10 for all or most of the channels, yet ITV and C4 have vanished? Id love to have a rooftop one but its a rented property and the landlady doesnt want us to drill new holes in the wall. the sky was already installed when we moved in.

I'm surprised that you are missing only 2 Freeview channels as normally you won't get all of a MUX

    For example as you aren't receiving ITV1 & Ch4 you should also be missing ITV2, ITV2+1, ITV3, ITV4, Ch4+1, More4 & E4

And as there aren't any UK TV channels below 21 there's no need to scan them

Good luck, however I don't think that any indoor aerial is going to give satisfactory performance, unless you live next door to the transmitter.

A loft mounted aerial may just do the job, if you really cannot have an external aerial fitted.
