Help and advise needed!

I have 3 credit cards... I halifax which i have had for a good 3 years, with a £0 balance - origianlly i had a £3450 limit on it, then they reduced it to £750.

I have 2 other cards a Mint Card with £666, limit £850 on it and a MBNA Card with £860 on it, limit £1000.

My credit score has gone up over the last 6 months from v poor 358 to good 939. But the thing against me is that i have had a lot of scores recorded and unrecorded in the last 12 months, non in the last 3. But i dont want to be searched again until they are all clear. Another thing it says to improve my score is that i have accounts with high balances on them.

Would i be better off leaving the cards as they are, or transfering the balance on a long term rate with halifax, from mint and mbna and cancelling the other cards????

dont want to affect my score but want the lowest interest.

any advise

  • firstly, your credit score your referring to has very little bearing on decisions made by companies re decisions to lend or not to lend to you. Each company have thier own way of deciding your credit rating.
Searches that are unrecorded have no effect on your credit score or rating and in fact companies that do search your file do not see the unrecorded searches only you and the CRA do.
0 searches in last 3 months is good.
The number of searches seen by companies on your file is merely an indication that you may be getting a little desperate to raise money.
