Will recent events cause an increase in energy bills

There's a definite chance for a bit of scamming by the energy companies here. They are forever banging on about buying their fuel months in advance so if that's the case suely there's a very real chance that they won't be buying at current (inflated) wholeseale prices but will of course use the excuse that they can't put the price down due to this 'problem'. We really do need this industry re-nationalising, don't we?

It just seems so unfair that the rest of Europe should suffer because a bankrupt country doesn't want to pay its gas bill.

300 years of fuel we could use, with coal right here and she shut it all down. Evil witch, maybe we should burn her and stand around warming ourselves.

This is not the only way for Russian gas to reach the EU - 'only' 20% comes through Ukraine. I belive there are plans for a pipe directly to Germany from Russia , and probably others.
Europe has not been left without gas.
That said - if more is coming in, it shoud keep the prices low. Rather not rely too much on Russia at any point though.
