DD's pc has stopped connecting to internet and get message
- "limited or no connectivity" .
Connection is wired and via Netgear. NB 2 other pc's are connecting fine. After trying repair option is showing:-
"can't complete action 'renewing your IP address' ".
Have noticed that she has managed to get 'tinyproxy.exe' on to her pc which scans don't seem to remove. Have tried with and without firewall and all ports and different network cable without success! Also tried restoring, but no change.
Using Xp SP3
Any suggestions?
Many thanks

Try following these instructions originally posted by Browntoa:
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.
- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from hereand just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
- When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
- The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Hi, i'm going to open by saying i'm not very techie, so please dont shoot me.
OP, i seem to have been having the same problems, and know how frustrating it is. when you can't connect, you cant connect to get the download to see what's wrong! i have used a few hours of my broadband tech support call line (free thanks to Martin), and gone through set up many times. it seems to be working right now, but the support guy has no idea why the 4th re-installation worked and the others didnt. so maybe keep trying? good luck.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Thanks, espresso, have downloaded MBAM and burnt to CD. Installed and run on DD's pc and removed a lot of crap including tinyproxy. Have rescanned and nothing detected! However, connection will still not repair! I'm guessing that one of the little !!!!!!s has corrupted/changed something? Any further suggestions? ThanksI'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

As the connection is wired to the router, check the LAN adaptor is enabled and configured correctly in Network Connections. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Sorry, I'm no expert on this, so what do I check? Have noticed that if I try to connect to the net (via Firefox) it say's that "Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections". How do I check this proxy server? ThanksI'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0 -

Try Tools, Options, Advanced, Network Tab, Settings, Check No Proxy then OK:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Which version of Firefox? If you are running an old version perhaps install the latest version 3.0.5. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Perhaps posting a HJT log would show if you still have a nasty on the system. e.g. a proxy redirect etc. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
