DD's pc has stopped connecting to internet and get message

    - "limited or no connectivity" .

Connection is wired and via Netgear. NB 2 other pc's are connecting fine. After trying repair option is showing:-

"can't complete action 'renewing your IP address' ".

Have noticed that she has managed to get 'tinyproxy.exe' on to her pc which scans don't seem to remove. Have tried with and without firewall and all ports and different network cable without success! Also tried restoring, but no change.

    Using Xp SP3

    Any suggestions?

    Many thanks

    Who is your ISP?

My BIL has the same problem & I have tried a few fixes to no avail. Watching this thread will be interesting for me as I am going back on Saturday to try again( he stays 35mls from me) so not so easy to just go & try things.

Not sure about these next two, does the log have a space in the word "Internet", or is this just the way it's copied over?? From what I remember about another thread on here, these could well be iffy and a possible cause of your problem

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:9090
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;<local>

I would await some higher techie advice before removing these, as I could be wrong, but I have a slightly bad feeling about these two...
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Yes, just has been copied and paste from log file! Are these things easy to remove anyway?

    Those are the problem.
Using Regedit, navigate to the registry value.
Back them up first and then delete them both. Make sure that HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyEnable has a value of 0 (zero)

Whilst you've removed tinyproxy.exe , the registry entries which it altered still remain.

Next, go to start, programs, accessories, Command Prompt.
    At the command prompt type:

    ipconfig /release

    then
    ipconfig /flushdns

    then
    ipconfig /renew
    Conor
    Unstoppable.....

Sorry M'Lord, been doing what everyone should do regularly, backing up gigabytes of data. Better safe than sorry!

I would say that the line:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:9090

is why you are not able to connect to the net. You could try going to Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections, Settings and see if you can remove the proxy server.

It's working! A couple of reboots and it finally connected!! I'm guessing that after stripping out all the Malware and new version of Firefox finally did the trick after it sorted itself out - took ages to load up! Many thanks espresso for your help until the next time!!
