Specsavers 2 for 1

  • I've now discovered this offer does not apply to thinner/hi-index lenses. It's only on standard type lenses. For the thinner lenses, you only get the second pair with standard thick lenses fitted.

If you are near Liverpool, try Millicans. they permanently run a free second pair offer, including sunglasses. Also have 25% off all frames in the branch I went to ( Allerton Rd) and that includes real designer names not tne rubbish that Specsavers choose to call "designer".

Hope this helps someone get a real bargain.

That's true...Specsavers 'designer' frames aren't the high-end designer frames that are sold in other opticians.

 I think this deal has been going for years. I've had my specs from them for about 12 years. I used to have my main pair as varifocals and the second as readers( half- glasses, suitably frightening for teachers).
About 6 years ago they started giving the same sort of lens as you pay for as the freebie. Now I get two pairs of varifocals.

I am working towards a wardrobe of specs as big as that of Anne Robinson!:j

Specsavers seem to sell sub-standard frames and lenses, hence the low prices, while they are good for a cheap pair of glasses - I would avoid their "designer" brands. I bought a pair of "FCUK" glasses and because I take high indexed lenses - I declined the offer of the second pair because they wanted to charge extra for these lenses.

The logo soon pealed off the frame.

Anyway I had to take the frame back twice - the arm fell off after only a few weeks and then a few months later I took it back because the lenses were badly scratched even though they had the anti scratch coating. Although I managed to get a replacement pair of glasses under their warranty, I am hesitant to buy another pair of glasses from them.

It seems to me that they manufacture their own frames and get them "branded" under licence. I don't think you can find the same glasses elsewhere... Similarly too with the lenses, these are always generic rather than Zeiss/Pentax/Nikon etc....

I got the highest spec varifocal free on my second pair.

If you really only want one pair, negotiate a discount on the first pair. I got 20% off last time.

I've always had the same type of lens in second pair as in the first.

I did once have a troublesome pair, where the nose pad kept coming off. It was always repaired promptly, but more importantly, when I had my next pair, they gave me 15% off.

If you wear spec all the time, it's great to have a number of styles at reasonable prices. Specsavers allows that.
