Lost DLA cheque

Can you get replacement cheques?

Unfortunately the cheque of just under £300 has dropped beneath the mantle piece and the coal fire (unused) There is a very slight gap between the wall and the pine surround

I cant see it at all and tried to put paper down with glue and a long pin but only way really is to dismantle it from the wall and it would cause such a mess

Will the DWP be able to send another cheque its my daughters

Thanks

yes, if you explain what's happened, though they might get a bit funny if you tell them that it's behind the fire but don't want to cause a mess
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

Thanks its a modern fire place what I meant by mess would be I would have to redecorate as I assume the fire surround is fastened into the wall with some brackets which would need digging out and unscrewing at either side. The coal fire seems to sit into the surround too its an old fashioned cast iron type with tile on it

I just checked above the pine surround and its quite a big surround, only one small section has the damn gap and thats when the cheque was, I just happen to give the surround a dust and where the cheque was behind a clock and it fell in.

I just rang them up, they are sending a letter to my daughter to sign that she hasn't got her cheque I told them we lost it as mentioned above. Just glad she can get it otherwise I would have to pay her which is a lot of money and we woudl be really short if we did, we just paid £300 for car to get done through its MOT last week as it failed and she needs the car to take her places

Strange as it sounds, and depending how far down it's gone, but have you tried hoovering it up (using the long attachment obviously lol)?

Might work, it's only a bit of paper so it shouldn't take too much power to lift it and would def be quicker than waiting for another cheque .

Don't try using it now, though, as it's been reported lost they'll have put a stop on it. Just tear it up so there's no confusion should you rediscover it some time in the future.
