Shutter lag on Fujifilm S5800/S1000fd

I'm after a new digital camera, and these two fit the specification (and price) of what I'm after, but I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with them. I was all set to get the S1000fd, having handled both and felt it was just a bit smaller and better in the hand, if that makes sense. However, having done a lot of research, I've found that it seems to be slated in terms of shutter lag (example http://www.cameras.co.uk/html/shutter-lag-comparisons.cfm?sort=ShutterLag) but I'm no expert in how bad that is. It does seem to be recurring problem in most of the reviews I've found though, whereas the S5800 gets much better reviews in this respect.
I've seen a couple of threads where people have mentioned these cameras before, and any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

i've got the 5800 and don't have too many problems with it.
There does seem to be a bit of shutter lag in one of the settings but i can't for the life of me remember which it is.

I have 2 Fuji cameras S9600 & F10, do not have any problems with shutter lag. I can only recommend Fuji as having great camera's.

Sorry I have no experience of these compacts, but I can agree on trustedreviews.com being a good site. I use it as much as I can for things and find it to be fairly spot on for what I needed
As to megapixels, on a point and shoot kind of digi camera, they are way down on the list of things to look for. Although yes more pixels means a bigger picture to print, the thing with P&S cameras is the size of the sensor used to collect the information is a LOT smaller than a full blown pro style camera, so there comes a stage where more pixels really is a waste. THE most important thing is to get one with a good quality lens, that will affect your picture quality more than anything, so when you have narrowed your choice down, try and find the make of the lens it has and google it
If you are buying the good old fashioned way, frmo the high street, go to somewhere like Jessops and try before you buy. The staff there are good and will help you a lot

Thanks for the replies. I should have said in the original message that it's the shutter speed issue that has stopped me buying the s1000fd so far. I've used fujis before and always had good results, it was just that specific model that seemed to be getting criticised. I was all set to get the s5800 until I handled them in the shop, and just found the s1000fd less bulky and nicer to hold, I was never desperate for the slightly higher number of pixels/zoom.
However, given the number of reviews I might have go back to my original chioce and just have to put up with it being a bit big
. Thanks for the advice.
