Strange one this. Audio works through front speakers but not rear or headphones. This is for Iplayer Youtube etc. etc. only.
Media player fine, system sounds fine, even Runescape is playing in surround. Just not flash video.
Have trawled the net, there are plenty of fixes for no sound but none that I can see for surround.....
VIA AC97 onboard.
I have added stuff to reg uninstalled audio driver flash player CCleaned reg cleaned etc. etc. Nothing works. There is a slight wiff of a noise in the background telling me that the device is working, but something is configured wrong. Any suggestions?

I may be wrong, but I'm under the impression that flash can only support stereo sound, unless your audio driver can "upmix" the stereo to surround sound then I'm not sure that there is a lot you can do about it.
As you indicate in your post, the audio system is working, multiple programs are indeed utilising the surround sound, but flash (or perhaps the browser you are viewing the flash content in) is perhaps just not capable of providing surround sound."This 'telephone' has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication. The device is inherently of no value to us."
