Recommend good quality bedroom furniture?

Hi,

We need a whole new suite of furniture for our bedroom. We would like something which is of reasonably good quality (not Ikea/Argos/Homebase) preferably in Oak or similar.

Any recommended places to look?

Thanks

James

www.pinesolutions.co.uk ..the number of times i have recommended them you'd think i was on commission ..if only! I don't work for them either - just a happy customer! We bought their Oxbury pine pre-assembled bedroom furniture...they do a package of bed side cabinet, wardrobe and 3-drawer chest but if you phone up they'll upgrade it and you'll get a better deal than buying the pieces individually.

If you order online and go through quidco there is cashback to be had...though i got a better deal by phoning. More expensive than argos etc but quality is far superior and is built to last. Search the forums here and you'll find my other more detailed recommendations for them.

Don't touch Tesco cheap pine furniture...we bought some and ended up sending it all back due to v. poor quality.

It's worth having a look at Alstons web site, they do a good range. Nice quality at a reasonable price. They also keep their ranges going for quite a long time, I was recently able to obtain extra pieces for a 10 yr old bedroom suite.

Where abouts in the country are you? I ask because my recommendation doesn't have a website to order from. You have to go into the shop because its all hand made to your spec. They can order ready made furniture that you can choose from catalogue but its mostly the handmade stuff from scratch that they sell.

If you want proper solid oak you are talking lots of money. Ours is made from pine and stained to look like oak.
We got a bed frame, 2 bedside cabinets/drawers and 2 chests of drawers for less money that buying a similar set from AHF. Delivery time in AHF was 12 weeks....ours was made and delivered in 7 weeks.
Its made exactly to our spec and is very solid. eg..drawer bottoms are pine not thin board.

The company is located in Bourne, Lincolnshire if that's anywhere near you?

I'm in Nottingham actually so not a tremendous distance away. Could you perhaps pm me with the details?

    Thanks
