I take it the main reason for wanting a new laptop is for the camcorder? If so does it have to be a laptop? there are some amazing prices on desktops about and you would get a far better, more upgradable and therefore longer lasting machine for less money.

Thanks for that, Yeah the main reason is to use with the camcorder, to stick the recordings onto dvd. I'd keep my i-mac for the net & main computer even if its getting on a bit & not as high tech as new pc's, but it does a job, i haven't got room for 2 pc's.I take it the main reason for wanting a new laptop is for the camcorder?
