My hubby wants an mp3 player for one of his prezzies when we go on holiday. I have no idea which one to get. Could someone recommend any.
He's a window cleaner so not sure if you can buy a water resistant one
Not too important.
Just wondered if anyone can suggest a make or a deal they have seen on their travels. Not sure what they are so don't want to buy a rubbish one.
Thanks in advance

I got an Ipod Touch for Christmas and love it. A bit expensive at around £150 but I would go for this if buying for myself

Was around £86 before Christmas so has gone up a little. Gets excellent reviews.Middlers0 -
I bought the above mentioned Sony for one of the kids for Xmas, seems very good. But for the other one I boguht the Creative Zen X-Fi, which would be my own personal choice. Both cost me around the £80 mark from Amazon. The X-Fi has an SD card slot so you can add more music/videos to your heart's content. Of course, both of these have a screen on which you can watch videos (the X-Fi is excellent, not sure yet about the Sony), so it depends on whether you want one with a screen or not? If not, both Creative and Sony make good basic mp3 players (but again personally I would probably go more for something like the Creative Stone).
A friend got an iPod 120Gb for Xmas (which is what she thought she wanted) but she has now discovered how awful iTunes is, and wishes she hadn't asked for an iPod! I did my research very thoroughly first and chose the aforementioned two players, at the price and capacity/functions I was looking for. Very pleased with both of them.2021 Targets

hi i recommend the Sony Walkman NWZ-A815 MP3 player. Its about the same legnth as a credit card. I bought this cos i didnt want to spend the money on an ipod for it to get broken or lost.
You can also buy a clear silicon case to protect the MP player but isnt water resistant but helps agains accidental drops.
Great sound with graphic equalizer and also plays videos in FLV format.
Also holds pictures too.
Charges from PC and its just a case of drag and drop files into folders on unit.
bought new ear phones for it cos the sony ones were a bit annoying, great sound from them tho.
Im sure comet were now selling it fo £35 pounds instore. I paid £60 when it was on offer in Argos

I have an iPod and despite comments above I find iTunes very easy to use!
My son has a Sony NWZ-S639FB (16GB) and is delighted, he has got all his music on it and has even found he can download TV programmes from BBC iPlayer and watch them on train journeys to while away the time. Available from Amazon, it was about £95 in January but may have gone up a bit now.0 -
I think ipods are the least user friendly gadgets in the prettiest range of colours known to man.

We've had two philips players in the house that are 10x easier, and sound better.Only dead fish go with the flow...0 -
I had a creative zen for 2 years which sadly broke in the end. I'd highly recommend them though.

is the latest version of what I had.
Sadly I've gone over to the darkside - my insurance offered to replace my 32GB Creative Zen with a 120GB ipod... I won't be using itunes though (and there are plenty of alternatives around these days)!0 -
I have a iRiver which has a radio on it aswell, which I got from Amazon - someone recommended the brand to me, I hadn't heard of it before but I love it. Hope this helps..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I'd recommend that you avoid Apple iPod's! They are massively over-rated and prone to breaking down.
Try something from Creative's Zen range:

Or an Archos:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/qid=1236888018/ref=sr_st?keywords=archos&rs=573372&page=1&rh=n%3A560798%2Ck%3Aarchos%2Cn%3A560884%2Cn%3A573372&bbn=573372&sort=price
They are both far far better than Apple could ever hope to be
