Debit Card Charge NatWest

I thought the days of high charges were over but we have just been charged £35 by NatWest for their paying a debit card transaction when there were insufficient funds in our account. This appears to be a new type charge - they will honour a debit card transaction even if there are insufficient funds but the charge is £35 for them to do so and there is no option as far as I can see to say - no don't pay it. Can anyone advise what is going on here?

Yes, you are using the banks money, they are charging you for doing so, in line with their T&C's.
Simple solution, don't spend their money, or change banks.;)0
